Big Wave Kitesurfing At Mavericks
We cant quite decide if this is sicker and crazier that surfing Mavericks or not. The idea itself is right up there :) but when you see how the surfer on the same wave eats it and kitesurfer gets pulled away from the foam-bomb by the power of the kite, maybe surfing is still more dangerous. Let’s just not stop to think what happens if the kitesurfer wipes out and get tangled in the lines or the kite. Well, it’s not very likely but still… Anyway, on October 20, 2007 Jeff Kafka and his crew kitesurfed some of the biggest waves ever ridden on wind power alone. The clip you are about to see is also the first documented wind powered tow-surfing at Mavericks.
