Terje Håkonsen goes 32ft/9.8m up!

Who is Terje Hakonsen?

Stupid question if you are a snowboarder, but if you are not, this is some stuff about the guy, who is one of the most influential snowboarders of all time and a true icon of the sport.

Terje Hakonsen dominated freestyle snowboarding in the 1990s. He won the ISF World Championships in half-pipe three times in a row (1993, 1995 and 1997).

Terje Hakonsen has also won 5 European championships in half-pipe (1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1997).

Terje Hakonsen has also won the U.S. Open in half-pipe 3 times (1992, 1993, 1995).

Terje Hakonsen has also won the Mt. Baker Banked Slalom 6 times (1995, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2003, 2004). Hell, he even won it riding switch.

He comes from a town called Vinje in Norway where he was born on October 11, 1974. He is also know for boycotting the 1998 Winter Olympics where snowboarding was first introduced. He didn’t like the way skiing federations took over snowboarding and left snowboarders own federation out of it. So Terje and Daniel Franck, started The Arctic Challenge where the riders would be in focus. Which brings us to the point of this post.

Terje Hakonsen broke the world record for highest air on a Quarter Pipe at this years Arctic Challenge. He busted an air that was 32′ (9,8 meters) hight and did a backside 360 method. The record was previously held by Heikki Sorsa. Now to the movie.
