WAKEBOARD ROPE
When the sport starts evolving and more money is pumped into it the equipment improves and gets more sport specific. So yes, you need a special wakeboard rope for towing. There is not much to say here so I’ll be short.
Wakeboard Rope Strech
You want a non stretchable wakeboard rope made of non strechable material such as spectra. Why? If the rope is elastic it will pull you down when you are in the air and lower your jump. Stiff wakeboard rope will also give you more control. If you are wondering – a waterskiing rope is made to stretch, so its no good.
Wakeboard Rope Length
A good wakeboard rope to begin with is around 45-50 feet long. If the rope is shorter it will place you closer to the narrower section of the wake (wake is narrowest closest to the boat and the gets wider and wider). That can help you if you have troubles jumping over the wake. If you have problems with the the choppy water to close to the boat make the wakeboard rope longer. When you get better get longer rope to get more air. Like 50-55 feet long.
Wakeboard rope length is also connected to wakeboard boats speed. Faster boat - longer rope.

when you start you should be at like 55-60 feet… when you get better you should gradually increse to w.e. feels natural, most pros ride around 80-85. most intermediate/advanced riders go between 65, and 75 feet
electing a handle comes down to personal preference again as there are many types and feels of grip on the market, however look for one that has a wide handle between 13-15 inches (to make those handle passes behind the back easier ), has a nice grip that is comfortable to hold and wont slip out of wet hands easily.
