#27-29: When Size Arrives

First solid forecast of the season and it delivered. It even over delivered. We got stuck on the mainland on Saturday, missing the island session. Friday afternoon was a warm up. Almost sunny, nice waves, some wind.

When it got dark we slowly made out way to the ferry and went to sleep. To our surprise the ferry was cancelled and since the wind and waves were forecasted to increase during the day the chances of the ferry starting its service were non existent. So we slowly made it back to the usual spot.

New spot
On the way south.

We stopped in a little town on the Istra east coast and surfed so-so waves for a while. When we got to the usual spot it was full on strong winds, messy waves, torrential rain and even hail. So we played the waiting game. The wind was supposed to stop sometime in the afternoon. Every now and then someone ran low on patience and went in. The rest of us watched from our cars placing bets if he would make it outside or not. Usually not haha.

Finally the wind died down around 16:30. Lineup was full in a moment. And the waves, man…I might have never surfed waves this massive at this spot. It was super fun, we surfed until dark. Wrong surfboard though, could have used a regular shortboard.

It got dark way too soon.

Sunday wind turned west, sun came out and we surfed a few different spots that day. Again it was bigger than the forecast promised and this spot that works so rarely was doing it’s things. Strong current was helping with the crowd situation:).

Session no.2 on surf day no.3
Ok, bye

Monday was supposed to be a carbon copy of the Sunday but it was mostly blown out flatness so we drove around a bit, enjoyed the sun, went to dinner and then back home.
