#52: Night Surfing Session That Was Not

West wind surfing

West wind is fickle and days are almost at the shortest in the year. It’s not a coincidence that the peak of the swell and then wind dying down were forecasted somewhere between 1. and 3. am. Middle of the night. We (me and Luggy) drove down in the evening. The plan was to surf clean bay in the middle of the night using diving headlamps. We set the alarm clocks and went to sleep. Well, the wind was so strong, shaking the van left and right that I couldn’t sleep until midnight. When the alarm went off two hours later I could barely open my eyes. Surfing didn’t feel that inviting, so we cancelled it, turned in our beds and went back to sleep.

In the morning we surfed the regular spot for a good 3 hours, 2 of which were ok size for turns. There was quite a strong current that meant 3h of almost non stop paddling. I had to rest an eat something. While I was resting the other side has waken up and Medo and Struja had a sick session.

PS: I don’t have a single photo from the session so I used an old one

PPS: The night surfing story is actually from Thursday/Friday night that ended in an epic NOA glass session. But it’s a cool story that deserves it’s own post. We did surf Barba on Wednesday, just during the night we just slept, without any plans to go surf :).
