Waterproof Wallet Review

DryTide just launched their new waterproof wallet. Here is a short review of the wallet and a few reasons why a wallet that can stay in your pocket while you are snorkelling might be useful. So first lets start with a few reasons where and why a waterproof wallet is useful.

Why a Waterproof Wallet?

DryTide Waterproof Wallet Review

Now, lets move to the DryTide waterproof wallet.

DryTide waterproof wallet at a first glance looks almost like a regular wallet. The feel of the fabric is like, well, like its a regular fabric. The wallet looks very similar to a wallet that is not waterproof. The only giveaway that this wallet is waterproof is the unusual zipper. The zipper is airtight, so no water or even air can get in or out of the wallet. Once you open the wallet you can see from the inside that the material is completely 100% waterproof as it is smooth and rubbery.

The airtight zippers are always harder to open and close and this one is no exception. You have to pull really hard, especially the first few times. A big comfortable zipper puller helps. With usage the opening of the zipper get easier. Closing it is easy from the start. If you find it too hard to open, just can also grease it a little with silicone grease.

The wallet has only one compartment. The dimensions of the wallet are 13 x 10cm. It will easily fit money, credit cards and your ID. You can also put your average sized car keys inside, I mean, the new style keys, where they are a rectangular block, not the old style where a key was just a key. These fit as well obviously.

How waterproof is the DryTide waterproof wallet? Very waterproof. Although they don’t recommend taking it down underwater I did some testing and took it down to 10m below sea surface and not a single drop of water came in. So you can be sure it will stay dry if you use it for swimming or something similar.

Here is a photo from the free dive with the wallet. Once underwater I release the wallet and the small amount of air trapped inside it made it slowly rise to the surface.
