Camping Gear Essentials When Traveling

People travel for different reasons. While some do it to get away from the hustles and bustles of the cities, others want to try out cuisines from different parts of the world, some are looking for parties and new experiences, some for adventures, and some for quiet time at the beach. And then there are people who often travel in search of the best camping experience. These individuals would spend time and money in order to find the best places to camp around the globe.

You can gain unique and memorable experiences once you camp in different locations. Each country and state will offer something different, making all of your camping trips unpredictable and exciting. There is something special about being outside all the time, spending time on fresh air and in nature.

If you want all of your camping trips to be hassle-free and memorable regardless of the location, always bring the following camping gear essentials:

Water

Regardless of where you’re going to camp and how many days you are staying at that campsite, water is always a necessity. Dehydration can become the reason why you won’t have the energy and endurance to travel and camp.

Aside from making sure that you bring sufficient amounts of water, it’s also important to bring your own camping water container. This item is a great investment since you won’t have to purchase bottled water every time you get thirsty.

If you’re going to travel using your own car, you can consider bringing your own cooler, as well. This can keep your water and all other drinks cool for days. Coolers are a godsend, especially if you often camp for weeks.

Depending on how far away from civilization you are going it is also worth checking what are the options there for getting fresh water. We had quite a hard time getting fresh water in Sardinia (without buying it).

Campsite Chairs

Camping will usually involve different outdoor activities. Depending on where you’re going to camp next, you can decide to hike, trek, surf or swim. But regardless of how packed your camping trip is, you would always want to spend time to have some rest – and folding campsite chairs are perfect for this need.

Folding campsite chairs are must-haves for every camper because these items are very easy to set up and fold. These chairs don’t take up too much space, making it easy for you to bring wherever you travel.

Folding campsite chairs are also very versatile as you can use them when you’re reading a good book or when you’re roasting marshmallows in the campfire. These chairs are lightweight enough for you to carry them around with ease but durable to support your weight.

Lamps

It’ll be hard to move around when camping if you can’t see anything in the dark. How can you find items inside your tent if it’s too dark? Can you cook meals and start a fire when all you can see is pitch black darkness?

To make things easier for you when camping, always bring lamps. There are now battery-operated lamps that can last for hours (some models can provide light for up to 70 hours) and lightweight enough for you to carry anywhere.

You can basically clip these lamps in tree branches when you’re outdoors or place them inside your tents during nighttime. And since these lamps are lightweight, you won’t have any problem putting them inside your backpack and suitcase.

If you are going mountain biking during your camping trips, you can also use bike lights.

Fast-Pitch Tents

Tents are one of the most basic items you need to pack when you go camping. Tents serve as your primary home while you spend time outdoors, which is why bringing one is always necessary.

But instead of bringing the conventional tents wherein you’ll have to set up the pitch from scratch, look for fast-pitch tents. These types of tents can save you time and effort since all of the assembly pieces are already attached to the poles.

If your budget allows it, consider investing in bigger tents that include screen rooms and adjustable rain covers. Since these tents are multi functional, these can save you money in the long run as you’ll have to make lesser purchases.

Together with the tent you will also need sleeping mats and sleeping bags. Depending on the level of comfort you expect and on the outside temperatures choose the right mat and sleeping bag thickness.

Portable Chargers

Electricity is important whenever you’re camping. Sure, you would like to spend time outdoors and enjoy Mother Nature, but you will still need electricity to charge your electronic gadgets.

How can you inform your friends and family back home if you’re in danger if your smartphone doesn’t have any juice? All of your gadgets – coffee makers, portable speakers, and electric stoves – will be useless if you don’t have any electricity.

For your camping trips to be comfortable and convenient, make sure to bring your portable chargers. Never rely on your campsite to provide you with electricity because not all campsites offer this amenity.

Portable chargers are necessary because these items are small enough to fit in your glove compartments yet powerful enough to make all of your gadgets work. If you want to be even more independent (power banks will run dry after a few charges) and if you will spend lots of time away from the power grid then consider investing in a solar powered charger. Don’t go for the cheapest ones though, some basic ones have little solar panels that are more for show and not really useful. Get a stand alone foldable solar panels that give at least 20W of power in full sun. And then use them to fill your power banks.

Prepare Properly

These were the basics that you need for a camping trip. Of course the equipment list doesn’t end here. There is tons of camping specific gear that can make your life outdoors easier. From cooking equipment to solar showers, from mosquito repellents to portable toilets.

A big factor in picking the right camping gear is also the type of travelling and camping that you will be doing. If you will travel with your own car then you can take loads of gear and make your camping trip really comfortable. If on the other hand you will go backpacking/camping, then lots of things are just out of the questions. No chairs, the smallest lightest tent possible etc…
