I call this trip the “Morocco winter cutter” because it cuts the winter in two more manageable pieces:). That is of course it you don’t like cold and darkness. If you love them then you can call it the “shitty break” or something. Anyway, this was the third year in a row we jumped over the Mediterranean sea, landed in Marrakesh, rented a car from a Serbian dude and drove to Taghazout on Atlantic coast of Morocco.
The town of Taghazout has become a winter escape for half of European surfers. Town is booming with restaurants, surf hostels and surf schools. And the obvious surrounding breaks, however epic they are, I am looking at you Anchor point, have become super crowded. But with some luck and local knowledge we manages to squeeze in quite a few uncrowded sessions.
