Is it spring yet? The days are for sure longer and together with daylight saving time you can easily finish work, drive south and still have a couple of hours to surf before it gets dark. And this is what we did this Friday. The forecast was very optimistic a few days ago but then deteriorated every day until predicted wave heights didn’t ever reach 1m. Which sucks. But it was Friday, we were on the way to the sea anyway so why not make a pit stop at the usual spot. Surprisingly, sets were actually surfable. Meaning you could do some turns! So in the end it was bigger than the last forecast predicted. I would give it 4.1 out of 10. Towards the end the onshore got stronger and good waves were more and more rare. So we packed and went to the island.
Monday morning the wind started howling around the corners of the building. I think it was one of the strongest winds ever. In the distance you could sea a cloud of sea water above the sea surface in the area where the Bora wind drops especially violently from the Velebit mountains and hits the Adriatic sea. Unfortunately the wind was blowing straight into the bay. The sea was white and foamy. So good waves were rare, I had to paddle constantly and my eyes were full of wind and water. I had it after a good hour haha. But even 46 knot wind after work surf is still better than just work without surf.
NOA, 31.3.23, 20km spot 3.4.23
