I had a few days of last years vacations left and with the promissing forecast in Italy I headed west. To kick things off there was something cooking in Lamone. I arrived in the afternoon and it did not look that good. But the water was warm, it was surfable and I had acouple of fun ones all alone by the pier. When people finished their work a few other surfers arrived. One of them was not very happy with the surf I guess. When he came back to his car he was pissed, smasing the car doors and cursing in italian. It wasn’t really that bad, come on.
The there was a break in the forecast. I have spent it mountain biking in Tuscany. This bike park on Monte Amiata is so sick. Small, cheap, but the trails are so fun. The mountain is also pretty high, so I wasn’t really aware of the cooking hot temperatures down in the valleys. After two days of MTB it was time for some Tuscany surf. After a few mornig laps I put on my sweater and started the drive towards Tuscany coast. Descending first 200m I felt like the sweater was not really necessary. When I hit the valley I was sweating with AC on full power.
Anyway, the surf was super fun for 3 days, then it got smaller so I headed home. It would still be surafble for another 1-2 days I guess. The mistral wind got stuck on top of Corsica island and was sending small swell towards Tuscany for a week. It wasn’t really big, but some spots are just so surfable in 0.7-1.4m range swells. So I had a blast!
