Going surfing is complicated around here. Surfing windswells in the Adriatic sea and in Mediterranean requires lots of planning and knowledge how to read the forecasts. Even though weather and wave forecasts got really good in recent years, experience still counts. What a certain forecast can produce and how will this result on the actual surf spot. Especially if the forecast is borderline or if different models show different things. Then it’s a gamble. So you have to be ready, follow the forecasts, make a decision to go, count in your job and other commitments with the hour when the conditions will be best and make room for the surf trip, drive to the sea and… Bam! NO! All this is no longer enough. You have to add the covid restrictions and testing into the mix. When can you make the test to go over the border and how long after the testing is the test accepted. Where and when can you make the test to get back, how long does it take for the results to get to your inbox (at least 24h) and where the test price is the lowest. Now try and do all that for a one afternoon surf trip across the boarder haha. Not very likely. But for three surf days in a row with one sick day on the island it’s worth it.
