X Games 13

Summer X Games 2007

This years summer X Games will take place in Los Angeles in a little less than one month time (from 2-5th of August). But what is starting today is the surfing part of the X Games 13. As the years before the competition will again (for a third consecutive year) take place in Puerto Escondido, Zicatela Beach or Mexican Pipeline as it is also called. BTW how many Pipelines are there, Andy Irons just won an even on South America Pipeline… :).

Their competition format for this years surfing X Games will be a little changed – we’ll get USA vs. the World instead of East Coast vs. West Coast. And thanks to generous sponsors we will be able to follow all the surfing live over the web. The Surfing Men’s Final will broadcast on ABC Sat., Aug. 5 at 4 p.m. ET and the Surfing Women’s Final will be televised at 9:30 p.m. ET.

Brad Gerlach Blah Blah on Summer X Games 13:  “It’s exciting to change the format and bring the leading surf stars — men and women — from around the world to the X Games.” Brad Gerlach is the guy who invented this kind of surfing competition, it’s called – The Game. The basic point of the game is that not individual surfers but teams compete for the title.

So who will represent USA and who the rest of the world?
U.S. surfers include Rob Machado, Jamie O’Brien, Rochelle Ballard and Megan Abubo
World Team includes Julian Wilson, Mick Campbell, Sofia Mulanovich and Stephanie Gilmore.

All there is left is for you to watch it on ESPN.
