OutdoorMaster Kelvin Ski Helmet Review

I got the chance to review OutdoorMaster Kelvin ski helmet. I wasn’t sure what to expect because the helmet is super affordable, if you get it on discount it costs less than 50 euros. There is also a discount code at the end of this article that will give you an extra 10% OFF!. But don’t be fooled by the low price, Kelvin ski helmet is a really good helmet. It looks good, it’s well made and it has all the features that you find in any twice as expensive helmet. It also comes in I think 13 different colors so anyone can find something to fit his style. I have chosen white color for this Kelvin ski helmet review but it also comes in black, gray, red, green, blue and other colors.

Ok, so let’s go into details.

Safety

Safety first! Not only because the quote says so but because we are talking about helmets here. The whole point of the helmet is that it protects your head in case you smash it into the ground. Kelvin helmet is ASTM certified, which means it was tested and it comes up to ASTM standards for protective helmets. The materials used are standard in most ski helmets – reinforced ABS shell with shock-absorbing EPS core.

Kelvin Ski Helmet Features

Vents and Airflow

Air vents on the top of the helmet.

Kelvin helmet comes with 14 vents that are placed over the top and back of the helmet. This way the air flows through the helmet it enters on the top and exits on the back preventing overheating.

Warmth and Removable Ear Pads

Helmet is very comfortable to wear. The inner lining is really soft and warm.
Ear pads are removable for spring riding. There is a small OutdoorMaster logo in front and a bit bigger one in the back, both on left side of the helmet.

When you put the helmet on you are like mmmmm…the inner lining is really soft to the touch, comfortable to wear and warm. For extra warmth you have soft ear pads that will keep your ears warm. This is super useful in winter, but for spring riding you will want a helmet with removable ear pad. And Kelvin helmet ear pads can be removed. This also comes in handy if you need to clean them. To remove the pads you have to use some force to pull them out, feels a bit sketchy at first so I double checked that they are really removable:). Once you are sure you just pull and out they go. Easy.

Size and Fit

For the helmet to work it needs two things. First, it needs to be certified, so you know it can take a hit. And second, equally important it must fit you. A helmet that is too big can have all the certificates in the world but if your head is loose inside the helmet it won’t help. Since head sizes and also shapes are different, it is usually the best to test the helmet in person. Put it on your head and see how it fits. Alternative to this that is widely used with ski helmets is the size adjustment belt that goes around the back of the helmet. This belt has a size adjustment dial that let’s you adjust the size to get the perfect fit. Of course you still need to choose the right size of the shell (S, M, L) but you can then make micro adjustments with the dial to get the perfect fit. This way I can easily say, that you can order the Kelvin helmet online without trying.

Adjustable size for perfect fit.

Like all helmets Kelvin helmet also comes with a chin strap which is also padded so it feels soft and comfortable on your chin.

Ski Goggles Compatibility

One annoying problem that can occur is that when you put on your helmet and ski goggles there is a small gap between the helmet and the top of the goggles. This is where the cold wind hits your forehead in and in cold weather it is really annoying. This can be the fault of the helmet, goggles or both. Kelvin ski helmet is shaped so that if your goggles are not extra weirdly shaped, there is no gap. The fit is perfect.

No gap between the helmet and goggles.

Helmet also comes with easy to use goggle clip at the back. These can be really hard to open with some helmets, with Kelvin helmet it’s quite easy.

Final Words

I was trying to find something I don’t like with this helmet but there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. It looks good, it’s well made and it has all the features that you would expect from a good skiing or snowboarding helmet. And it is super affordable. I always mentioned it as skiing helmet  but of course it can be used for snowboarding as well, I know I will.  The style/look of the helmet is really neutral and would fit somewhere in between both sports so I wouldn’t have a problem using it for either.

If you like this helmet and want to buy it then I have a gift for you, go to Kelvin Ski Helmet to buy it and when you check out, use this code for extra 10% discount:
