We like reviewing products from DryTide:) and this time they launched a new waterproof bag that is meant to protect your phone and/documents from water. This waterproof phone bag will keep your phone dry down to 30 meters under the sea surface. So, even if your phone is waterproof, this case can add that extra layer of bulletproof protection that you need in really wet environments. Now, before I begin, I would like to say that I tested the bag only in water maybe 10-13m deep, because this is how deep I can comfortably go while concentrating in the phone case, filming etc., when I go deeper I try only to concentrate on the dive.
How does the case stop the water from entering? The case closes with TWO zip locks that are then folded and secured so it is highly unlikely that any water can come inside, of course, if you are careful when closing the bag. Make sure you close the zip locks all the way and make sure there are no debris on the zip lock, like sand, hair etc…
This is how the bag looks. It has a window in the back for camera lenses and big one in front for the touch screen. Yes, the touch screen works when your phone is inside the bag so you can send messages, browse, listen to the music, post on social media, make calls, check the weather and take photos and videos. The only problem I had was that the proximity sensor kept reporting that the mic is covered, but there is a simple was to disable this in settings and then everything works without a problem. The bag is big enough for I would say any phone on the market except the phablet sized ones.
Btw, once you got the water protection covered, it is also good idea to thing about shock protection. I like the Ghostek cases, they offer all sorts of cases for different phone brands and model including the cases for iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Bag also comes with a strap so you can carry it around your neck for hands free use. It looks really nice and I can see it will be perfect for sea kayaking trips, surfing boat trips etc…
This is a short video of testing the wallet underwater. I can tell you one thing, there is no mobile signal underwater:). So no texting etc…but you can use the phone to take photos. If you want to use the phone underwater or even on the water surface when everything is wet and full of water drops then make sure to leave some air inside the phone case when you close it. The air will push the transparent window away from the phone screen and this way random water drops won’t confuse the screen into thinking they are your fingers trying to use the phone. Only when you push with your fingers so they come in contact with the screen the phone will react.
Of course, if you dive deep then water pressure will push the phone case against the screen.
