4 GoPro Camera Bugs That Will Drive You Crazy

Let me start by saying that I love GoPro cameras. I take them everywhere and use them all the time. GoPro makes an amazing little camera that can take lots of abuse and will survive mountain bike crashes, surfing wipeouts and deep water dives. Now comes the “but”. But. There are a couple of annoying bugs that have been around for so long I no longer know if they are bugs are maybe GoPro thinks of them as features? And these are not some geek in depth problems that an average user will never encounter. No, these are in your face bugs. And  they were here in ALL the GoPro cameras I’ve owned – GoPro Hero, Hero 4 Silver, Hero 5 Black and finally the new Hero 7 Black.

GoPro Randomly Freezes

You are taking photos, capturing videos or most often taking timelapses and GoPro camera just freezes and becomes unresponsive. Sometimes you can turn it off and then back on and problem solved, but even more often you have to take the battery out and put it back in. This is especially fun if you are in the water. I mean come on? Do you know of any other camera that just freezes? Can you imagine your Canon DSLR freezing randomly? WTF?:)

Battery Drains By Itself

It happened to all the people I know. You take your GoPro out of the backpack excited because the conditions are all time, the light is just right and the battery is dead. But, but…I charged it last night?! Camera has a mind of it’s own and sometimes it will burn through the battery during the night even if it is turned off. I happened plenty of times, I was going through my backpack looking for something and I grabbed my GoPro by mistake and it was hot as hell even though it was turned off. Idk, maybe it’s mining crypto currencies for GoPro owners, good for them, but to me it’s really annoying. This can be solved if you again take the battery out and put it back in right after you charged it.

Slow File Transfer

Connecting your camera to your computer with an USB cable to transfer the files is like watching grass grow. A few Gb of files takes a few hours do transfer. It would be faster if GoPro went to he post office and mailed the photos to you. This can be solved if you take the card from the camera and use an adapter to put it into your laptop, but the small adapter card is one of the more losable items there is. So off course it is never there when you need it?!

Have You Ever Tried Watching the Photos and Clips on GoPro LCD Screen?

Yeah, me neither. It takes forever to display the photos and videos and it is one of the actions that is very similar to begging the GoPro to freeze. Another way to spend time between now and old age is to delete photos from the camera using either camera interface or your GoPro phone app. How to solve it? Don’t do it :)!

GoPro, please fix these.
