Introduction

As the largest city in the United States by population, New York City is famous for so much more! Here you can see world-famous attractions, including galleries, and museums, enjoy Broadway shows like Wicked or Chicago, and many others – there is so much the Big Apple has to offer. This is why it is critical to make sure that your trip is thoroughly planned out.

Have an Itinerary

New York is huge and there are tons to do. So much, that it’s probably not smart to just up and go with no plan. The city is made up of five boroughs— basically, each a city in itself— and each borough has its own attractions. In Brooklyn, you’ll find the Brooklyn Bridge and Coney Island’s amusement parks; and in the Bronx, you’ll be able to see the Yankee Stadium. Manhattan has the most famous spots, including The Statue of Liberty, Madison Square Garden, Central Park, and Times Square. The Edge of New York is one place that travelers and backpackers must visit as it is a sight that will stay with you forever. However, the Edge NYC at night is the best time to visit, so make sure that you plan your trip accordingly.

Consider all your favorite TV shows that are based in New York as well, Friends, Sex and the City, and King of Queens, to name a few. If you’re a big TV buff, New York will definitely have all your favorite TV locations to take you to the very set that made you fall in love with a show in the first place!

Plan out what you want to do and when you want to do it. Make sure you do your research too, as to not backtrack through the city. You want to make the most of your time and be as efficient as possible.

Transportation

New York’s public transportation system gets a bad reputation, so it’s safe to say that most people would probably just use an Uber or a Lyft to get around. There’s also the option of renting a car, but driving through NYC’s traffic by yourself can be unnerving. There are, of course, certain locations that you can easily walk to and get a great New York experience, but go easy on them… you don’t want to wear yourself out too soon before seeing all the city has to offer!

If you’re traveling with a large group, consider traveling through the city by charter bus. By renting a New York City charter bus, you’ll have an expert driver navigating through the Big Apple for you. It’s a cost-effective way to travel since you’ll most likely split the cost among your group members, and you’ll have the flexibility and freedom to move quickly (or not so quickly) through your itinerary.

You also don’t have to worry about your luxurious charter bus in the New York City traffic. Big cities usually have what is called “high occupancy vehicle lanes”, which restricts most traffic from using those lanes.

Plan in Advance

Having an itinerary helps you plan what to do and when on your trip. You also need to plan when to take your trip. Start with the season. Do you want to travel when the weather is warmer or cooler? Remember, New York is prone to extremely cold temperatures and heavy snow, and nothing could be worse than going to New York in the dead of winter and potentially getting stuck there due to bad snowstorms.

Decide what month would you like to take your trip. At certain times of the year it may be cheaper to take your trip, so keep this in your mind too— especially if you are fond of cost-effective ways to travel. Planning the entire trip in advance helps you to keep track of where exactly your money is going

These are just a few of the basic tips for planning a trip anywhere. Take the time out to properly plan so that you are able to take in everything your destination of choice has to offer. It’s always a good idea to do your research on the specific attractions you’re planning to visit too.
