Not all wetsuits are created equal. Different brands make different models in different shapes which eventually means that an M sized wetsuit from one brand can be designed for a differently shaped human body as the wetsuit from another brand with the same M size label. If M from brand A fits you perfectly it doesn’t mean all M sizes from all the companies that make wetsuits will fit you perfectly. So here you have a huge collection of wetsuit size charts from all the brands that we could find directly from the manufacturers. It is the next best thing after trying the wetsuit.
If you are a beginner I also suggest that you read my explanation of wetsuit sizes (like what the hell is an MT and who fits into XXXL) and a few tips on buying your wetsuit online which of course means you are not able to try it.

Hello. I have 2 Ironman farmer john type wet suits (sleeveless). Both are older styles size ML. One is a
Sprint and the other a Stealth. The Stealth has the blue material back section, and the Sprint all black rubber. Could you please tell me which one I would get the most buoyancy from? Also which would would keep me the warmest for a cold water swim? Thanks in advance for any info. Ed.

Hi Danese, I don’t think there is a wetsuit brand that makes special plussize wetsuits. Usually people choose from sizes that are there to cover people that don’t have average body shapes. These are the sizes that use two letters instead of one. For instance, a skinny and tall person would get a ST size (small tall) and a short plussized person would get a LS size (large short). Most of the wetsuit brands have these sizes (but not all) and they should help you out. If these don’t fit then people usually go size up until they can fint into the wetsuit, this works up to some point because neoprene is really stretchy, but it is a compromise, because you will have some excess neoprene in some areas (sleeves and legs can be shortened in any wetsuit repair shop). The final solution would be a custom made wetsuit. There are wetsuit companies that also do that. Hope this helps:)
