#16: Blue Bird Skies and South Wind

South wind brings waves, clouds and rain. When it comes to rain, i don’t know why, but there is much more rain inland than at the surf spot. Probably because the southern point of Istra peninsula is so far into the sea that the rain heavy clouds aren’t bothered by it and they start dropping their load when they get further inland. But the clouds, the clouds are always there. There is an occasional break in the clouds with some sun shining through the hole, that’s not unusual. But completely clear skies, blue from east to west, from north to south… that is extremely rare. And it was what happened this Monday. One minute it was still raining hard, 15 minutes later the landscape was bathing in the sun. And it was not just a short sunny moment, we had clear skies the whole afternoon. Waves were in the 1.5m range and fairly clean, there was only a light wind throughout the afternoon. We were hoping it would stop completely, but it did not. Still it was one of the better sessions, maybe the waves lacked some steepness, not many vertical walls, you really had to get a good one. But I got plenty, the sun was shining, a really sick day.
