#17-18: This Climate Change Thing Could Be the Best Thing Ever?

These days any unfavorable weather is right away connected to climate change. I guess some of it is true, some of it is exaggeration…but that won’t stop me to connect this years insane run of summer surf to, you guessed it, climate change. Now, when I say “insane run of summer surf” I am speaking in Adriatic sea terms. If I counted correctly, if you would catch all the surprise west wind swell days you would so far collected 8 or 9 surf days in July and first week of August which is insane. Usual amount of surf days in the Adriatic in July/August is 0 (ZERO). This kind of increase can not even be put in percentage. Infinity plus one :)? OK, enough about weather and on to the last two surf days. Saturday after mountain biking evening session was pretty crap. It was the smallest possible waves that can still be surfed. To be honest, it wasn’t really a surprise. The forecasted showed the waves will pick up around midnight, so it was a bit of wishful thinking leading us to the evening session. It was more worrying that the waves were still the same at midnight and that the wind was not very strong.

Morning was bigger, but blown out and not very good. But as the day went on and when the waves according to the forecast should slowly be disappearing they were getting better and better instead. They increased a little and the wind died down a bit and after 12am it was almost epic. Not to mention that it is always good when you can surf in boardshorts and it was sunny the whole day.
