Last few surf days in the Adriatic were not that good. They were ok to keep the ball rolling once the season has started after a flat summer, but when the wave forecast doesn’t want to go away from the 1m area and there is wind in the forecast you can not expect much. If you do, you can be unpleasantly disappointed. Like some of my surf buddies were last time we went down south.
“I expected nothing and I was still let down!” is what one of my friends said during a semi drunk Morocco dinner lol.
This time forecasted wave heights didn’t even hit the 1m mark. Which is for a sane windswell chasing surfer a limit of what it is reasonable to waste gas money on. Partly because the possibility of waves being flat is high, and secondly not many people can honestly say after surfing 0.8m windswell waves: “That was sick!”.
But it was weekend, it was Indian summer with mid October sunny skies and temperatures above 20C (that would be like 68F) and there is no better place to spend the weekend than at the sea anyway. So we hit the road on Friday, did some various non surf related exploring on Saturday and finished it with burger on the NOA spot in the evening.
Sunday morning. Crap. Waves even smaller than yesterday, when there should be no waves at all. But soon the waves started to pick up, the skies clear, sun came out, wind calmed down and what followed was one of the sickest 1m session on the NOA spot ever. After it was over you could hear the: “That was sick!” multiple times haha.
