Before I started my Indo pilgrimage:) Portugal was on the surf menu every year at least once. Warm weather when back home it’s already dark and cold, great waves, empty lineups if you go away from the “go to” spots, great cheap food, friends living there…were just some of the reasons for that. But after tasting the no wetsuit warm waters of Indo it took a special long time dream come true to go back – I always wanted to do a surf van trip down the Portugal coast. Drive up to the spot, surf, make some food, surf again, sleep, wake up in front of the wave…or move someplace else and have your house on wheels always with you. Home is where you park it. I was always watching people traveling with camper vans and surfing with those “someday I will do that” thoughts in my head. So when the van trip plan started to materialize I was really excited. Me and my buddy Bosti surfed from Figuera da Foz and Nazare up north to Sagres down south chasing waves and best conditions up and down the Portugal coast. And surf van life is everything I imagined it would be, so after coming back I quickly did another surf van trip haha. With all the things happening I will dedicate a whole post to surfing Portugal by van with some tips for anyone wanting to do it.
