Nalut, Libya
Nalut is a district sided by the capital city Tripoli on one side and the Ghadames City on the other. To the east of the city lie the Nafusa Mountains. If ever there was a heaven for mountain biking it would be in Nalut. The district is surrounded by beautiful landscape of huge sand hills and a long trail weaving around them.
On top of all this the climatic conditions too is perfect for mountain biking. The skies are clear and there is no humidity in air. As a result Nalut is widely regarded as the perfect spot for biking. In the nearby region age old Berber granaries is also a major tourist attraction.
Garden Route, South Africa
The Garden Route is spread across South Africa from the Western Cape to the Eastern Cape. As opposed to Nalut the Garden Route features various landscapes including hills, grasslands, lakes and lagoons. The Garden Route has a typical coastal climate with temperatures rarely going south of ten degrees during winter and hardly rising above twenty-eight degrees during summer.
Other than the diverse landscape another geographical feature of South Africa is its extensive coastline. This means that it has plenty to offer for our readers who love to surf. South Africa has even been called the beginner surfer’s paradise.
High Atlas Mountain
This mountain range located in Morocco is further divided into three long ranges: Western, Central, and Eastern High Atlas. Numerous rivers originate from the High Atlas and most of them are perennial. The off road trails snake their way in and around the mountain range and is intersected by river streams at multiple points. The steep mountain slopes are perfect if you are looking to get some adrenaline pumping.
The Salt Pan in Botswana
Makgadikgadi Pan is situated in the middle of arid savannah in the northeast of Botswana. If the lake hadn’t dried up Lake Makgadikgadi would have been one of the biggest salt lakes in the world. The area covered by this Pan is larger than present day Switzerland.
As the lake evaporated it left shorelines around the lake that rise up to thirty-one hundred feet. The shoreline forms a great trail for biking beside the Pan and watching the basin from the top of the shoreline is quite a magnificent sight.
