#33-35: Island + Mainland Supercombo

Two days on the island and a clean finish on the mainland sounds like something surfers dreams around here are made of. Late night drive to the island was uneventful, at the end of the dirt road there was only one other van. Weird. I thought it was going to be packed. When I woke up, it was packed. I did not hear when, but sometime between 22:00 and 8:00 a bunch of windsurfers arrived.

I was the only one without a sail:). Thursday was supposed to be smaller, but it was solid over 2m wave. Wind was blowing into the spot so conditions were not clean, but at the same time waves were doing the same. So solid 2m conditions meant waves breaking all the way down to the graveyard :o. Damn.

Next day, instead of being bigger was a bit smaller but pretty similar. I was joined by Borut and Vid so I was no longer the only paddler:). After the session they stayed at the spot and I drove all the way to the ferry port to sleep there so I would be ready for the first morning ferry at 6am. Old narrow road with rusty fence that leads to the port is being rebuild, I’m kind of sad to see it go. It smelled like adventure. Parking on a slightly sloped parking leading to the sea 15m away without a handbrake was would be too much for a good sleep, so I found some rocks to put under the wheels.

It was still dark when we made it to the mainland, 1h later I was at the usual spot greeted by Dule with: “It’s flat, come and have some breakfast.”

It wasn’t really flat, but it was nowhere near almost 1.5m waves that were forecasted. Weird after two straight days of huge waves. Still it was a super fun clean session in the sun. So no complaints there.
