O’Neill Coldwater Classic
With ASP Wourld Surfing Tour schedule for 2012 already announced there came some surprising changes. The first was the dropping of the successful Quiksilver Pro New York. Which was deemed to be a shitty beachbreak competition but it turned out to be quite ok thanks to the swell that arrived just in time for the competition. But this doesn’t guarantee that an “all time” swell will come every year. So I’m not completely sure why was QS Pro New York eventually dropped but quickly after this rumors about O’Neill Coldwater Classic replacing the QS Pro started to float around. And now they are confirmed. Mens 2012 surfing world tour will have 11 events, same as in 2011 and one of them will be the O’Neill Coldwater Classic in Santa Cruz, probably at Steamer Lane.
This goes hand in hand with O’Neill celebrating 60 years so it is quite possible that this will be a one year event.
So the hopefully final ASP Wourld Surfing Tour schedule for 2012 Looks like this:
Feb 25 – Mar 7, 2012 Gold Coast,Qld, Australia Quiksilver Pro
